Lemonade stands have been around for more than 130 years and are a recognized symbol of entrepreneurship, especially for kids. Just for having endured an old time tradition for so many years, Lev LaLev applauds youngsters who venture forth in this popular summertime fund-raising activity, among other efforts exhibited by our supporters, both young and more mature!

garden-refrehser.jpegSince Lev LaLev and its friends love to help the girls at the Children’s Home in Netanya, Israel…they’ve added a special Israeli twist of more than lemon slices, sugar and water to the blend. In Israel, a rich green slushie type of refreshing drink cools off the population during the hottest days of the year. The popular Limonana is served in almost every café, many pizzerias, and every caliber of restaurant. So, to this end, kids are beginning to get the idea right here in the U.S. and abroad, to help their peers in Israel by setting up a Limonana Stand.

With the help of a parent and some friends, juicy lemons are squeezed, sprigs of mint are de-veined, water, ice and sugar are gathered, and sometimes a blender is used too. Paper cups and straws, a stack of beverage napkins, a small table with a colorful cloth is set up. Someone makes a funky sign, then a busy spot is chosen. Before you know it, a line starts to form! WOW! Excitement in the neighborhood! You’re not selling just plain old lemonade – it’s a variety on the theme. Aromatic mint leaves add so much zest and everyone wants the recipe.
