Naomi Hyman and her parents at a recent visit to the
Children's Home
Our
dear girls are once again blessed with the continued benevolence of the
Jewish Federation & Family Services of Orange County, California in Irvine.
We recently received a $10,000 grant
from them that is earmarked for the Home’s continuing Mental Health Program
that the Federation’s Family Philanthropy Venture Fund is now cosponsoring.
This is the second time that the Venture Fund has reached
out to help the precious girls at the Children’s Home. Our girls come from
varied backgrounds of neglect, abuse, and abandonment. They are also orphaned
due to the tragic loss of one or both parents as a result of acts of terrorism
or illness.
The Children’s Home offers ongoing professional mental
health care that includes, but is not limited to psychological services, aqua
therapy, art and music therapy, and equine and pet therapies.
Two years ago, Naomi Hyman, then only 12 years old, helped
raise funds for the launching and the construction of a new fenced playground
attached to the Children’s Home. Not only did she donate her own funds but also
she instituted the help of the Federation’s Venture Fund. Her perseverance and
dedication are a testament to the devotion of “kids helping kids.”
